You asked for the origin of the cognitive terms above. There may be
antecedents to the info I post below, but I will send anyway, it is old
and I quote it from memory.
In the 50's, Bloom and Krathwohl - among others, - performed research
into the three domains of all learning; Cognitive, Affective,
Psychomotor. They named the hierarchy for the Cognitive domain
-(starting at the lowest/simplest), - "Knowledge, Comprehension,
Application, Analysis, Synthesis, Evaluation).
I also believe it started out as Knowledge, RECALL, Application etc ,
and was revised in the early 70's .
