medieval-religion: Scholarly discussions of medieval religion and culture
Thank you all again; this is wonderful. For this year, the awards are
being called the "[School name] Award for Excellence in Dance" (since
graduation is week after next!), and I believe the dance teacher does
intend to have students research possible candidates to name the top
award after next year.
No, it doesn't have to be an "old" saint, and Ritamary Bradley sounds
like a wonderful idea, considering the audience: this is a school run
by the Institute of the Blessed Virgin Mary, a notably progressive
bunch. They rejoice in the nickname "Galloping Girls," given them in
the 17th century by senior churchmen who were disgusted by the fact
that, since their mission was teaching poor children, they refused to
stay tidily in their cloisters!
I plan to pass this whole discussion on to both the faculty and the
school president, and I'm sure they will be both interested and
entertained.
