Dear All,
I got this from Mike Rivett - the groundwater sessions
are in addition to the Earth's Interior session
that I publicised last week.
I haven't attached Mike's attachments (they were large)
but the details are on
http://www.geolsoc.org.uk/gsl/site/GSL/bicentenary/bicentenaryconference
Don't forget that the registration fee goes up 50% on the
31st so get your registration in now! Abstract deadline is
15th June, but you need to register first.
Regards,
Sheila.

Dear all
ABSTRACT CALL - Bicentenary Conference of the Geological Society
Dear colleague (please forward on)
May I encourage you to submit an abstract for the poster sessions at the
Bicentenary Conference of the Geological Society of London, 10-12
September 2007 held at the prestigious QE II Centre in Westminster,
London. The deadline for abstracts is 15 June. I attach a call for the
specific groundwater-related poster sessions which also details the
excellent array of international keynote speakers that will be
presenting under the Environment theme - I think that there has rarely
been such a high profile line-up of speakers in the UK - together they
have contributed a wealth of high profile publications including some
well-known textbooks. The Environment theme (one of four conference
themes) also includes environmental geophysics and engineering that
focuses on some major projects in London, again with leading experts in
their fields presenting - abstracts may also be submitted in those topic
areas as per the more general call for abstracts also attached. In terms
of the 6 groundwater-related sessions indicated, may I emphasise that we
are seeking poster contributions from a wide cross section of the
community including academia (young researchers are particularly
encouraged), industry, consultants and regulators on research and
applied topics. There is plenty of space at the venue for posters, hence
please feel encouraged to submit a contribution - the scope of sessions
is wide. Abstracts will be produced in the conference proceedings, but
we will also explore the possibility of drawing together Geological
Society Special Publications if the response in specific areas is
sufficient and, or encourage submissions into other Society
publications, e.g. QJEGH. I do hope to see you in London later this
year, it's a 100 years until the next one - so don't miss it!
