Would it perhaps be possible to have a facility for custom annotations
where the user can specify what they want to have using
fields/placeholders for 'Residue Number, dim1', 'Residue Number, dim2',
'Amino Acid, dim1, 1 letter', 'Amino Acid, dim1, 3 letter' etc. (A bit
like the way in which you can specify your own output style in Endnote
by selecting 'Journal', 'Page', 'Year' etc.) It could also involve
options like 'Only show Residue Number for second/third dimension if
different from first'. That would give the user maximum flexibility and
means you just need to provide the framework rather than lots of
different schemes.
