Cancer Research UK & UCL Cancer Trials Centre
The Cancer Research UK & UCL Cancer Trials Centre (CTC) is part of the
Cancer Division at the Royal Free and University College Medical School at
University College London. The CTC conducts a large number of multi-centre
national and international clinical trials in a variety of cancers. It is
one of the nine cancer trials units in the UK accredited by the National
Cancer Research Institute. Most of the trials are funded by Cancer Research
UK, and there is some funding from the pharmaceutical industry. There are
currently about 60 staff.
The purpose of this post is to support planned and ongoing clinical trials
by working with the senior statisticians, clinical investigators and trial
centre staff. This will include involvement in the design and statistical
analyses of the trials, working with investigators when applying for grant
funding, and writing reports and papers for publication. The post-holder
will also contribute to postgraduate teaching.
We are looking for a post-graduate (M.Sc. or above) in Medical Statistics
or related subject. Knowledge of statistical methods of design and
analysis and one or more statistical analyses packages (eg. STATA, SPSS,
SAS) is essential. Previous practical experience in the design and
analysis of clinical trials would be advantageous, as well as an interest
in cancer and its treatment.
Salary £28,386 to £34,337, including London weighting
