A funded scholarship is available for a doctorate student to carry out
research in the area of visualisation, assessment and management of
decision making uncertainty and risk. The scholarshiop is funded by EPSRC
as part of their Doctoral Training Account (DTA) and will tie in closely
with an existing project in collaboration with BAE Systems, NECTISE. For

There are two particular areas that could be investigated within the
overall topic area. One focussing on the determination and management of
uncertainty and consequential risk in a Network Enabled Decision Making
environment and the other looking at the visualisation and human
interpretation, and understanding, of such.
The student will be supervised jointly between the departments of Design
Manufacture and Engineering Management (DMEM) and either with Management
Science (Prof. Tim Bedford) or Psychology (Dr Alison Sanford).
