PhD Studentship in Medical Statistics at Keele University
Topic: Modelling of risks for chronic musculoskeletal disability using linked
consultation and survey data
The studentship involves developing novel statistical methods of deriving
patterns from longitudinal data. It will lead to the development of advanced
statistical models of comorbidity over time using general practice consultation
data. Then it will examine the influence of different patterns of comorbidity on
future disabling joint pain, and its interaction with other risks for disabling
joint pain in older people.
This three-year PhD studentship will be based in the Primary Care
Musculoskeletal Research Centre at Keele University. The successful candidate
would work alongside a group of statisticians, led by Professor Peter Jones, and
would join a diverse and enthusiastic group of postgraduate research students.
Supervision for the PhD would be provided by Dr Kelvin Jordan, Dr Umesh Kadam
and Prof Jones.
