Dear All,
Following on from Jennie's question I am copying my reply to her in case
it is of interest to other staff -
You may be interested to check the LIS-PUB-LIBS archives (at
www.jiscmail.ac.uk - type in LIS-PUB-LIBs as the list name)
This topic has come up twice before and generated quite a lot of
discussion - there are threads in July/Aug 07 (headed in the main Sound
recordings in public libraries & Future of multimedia) - there was also
a discussion of this in Feb 06 - prompted again by Bexley Libraries
considering cutting their CD collections and Montrose Library who said
they already had.
As you know this will be a topic for discussion at the "Music in Public
Libraries" seminar in May (16/5 at Henry Watson Music Library,
Manchester - contact me directly if you need more details - publicity
posted on the list Feb 07)

Subject: Future of AV in Libraries
In light of the steady decline in AV issues and income, has any
authority considered withdrawing / withdrawn their AV collections
partially or completely?
