Joint Use Libraries 2007 - An International Conference
This three day conference offers practitioners, researchers and
policymakers interested in joint use libraries a unique opportunity to
meet, network and share experiences.
The conference will be held from 19th to 21st June 2007 at The Lowry in
Manchester, UK (www.thelowry.com).
The conference will feature a diverse range of joint use libraries involving
a public library component, from small scale joint school-public libraries
to large scale mergers of a central library and university library and
examples of other partnership arrangements with health, voluntary, social
services and FE sectors.
Speakers from England, Scotland, the United States, Canada, Australia,
Scandinavia and elsewhere will be addressing issues including:
• How to staff and manage a joint use library
• Designing a joint use library
• Standards and guidelines
• Information literacy
• Large-scale and multiple-partner collaborations
• Regional variations in joint use libraries
There will be conference dinner on the Wednesday with an after dinner poetry
reading by Wendy Cope.
