Sue,
With the availability of cross-searching does it matter where the record pointing to a resource is? Why not cross search your catalogue and the Intute database?
I used to believe that all resources should be in the catalogue but now question this. We use Serials Solutions for e-journals and I'm wondering if it would make more sense to move our p-journal records (5-6K titles) to Serials Solutions rather than move 25K e-journal titles on Serial Solutions (35K if you count duplicate titles on different host services) to the catalogue.
Web sites (and many e-journals) are mainly light weight things (certainly light weight records - title/date range or description/URL) that can change from day-to-day, are catalogues really designed/meant for this?
Alternatively can your catalogue be persuaded to cross-search another database and combine the results?
Just a thought.

Subject: Cataloguing Web sites
Has anyone tried cataloguing Web sites so they can be searched via their
OPAC? We think this could be better than having a separate gateway page to
subject Web pages. The idea being that all resources can be found from the
OPAC.
Alternatively, has anyone added OPAC entries to deep links on Intute so
that, for example, a user can search the OPAC for "Web pages on women's
history" and get a link to the Women's History pages of links on Intute?
Hope this makes sense, happy to try to clarify.
Thanks for any ideas.
