Daer Aaron,
I wonder whether at least some of these could be gnawing marks. Dogs' teeth
often "get caught" esp. in the slight concavity on distal tibiae as they grind
away.
The calcaneus seems least likely from this point of view, but a student of
mine found something very similar at an AD 10th c. site in Hungary.
Perforations by that time could have been made by sophisticated metal tools.
But I am curious to see other ideas on the list.
Best wishes: Laszlo
