Dear Eduardo,
This is a quick note as I travel. The list I sent last week was not a
comprehensive inventory. It was a quick and dirty list. A full list would
be much larger. I am working with Jeremy to create a proper comprehensive
list and we will publish it earlu next year. Please do not mistake my list
for a general list -- it wasn't, and I thought I said so at the time.
Before listing the supposedly ¨missing journals, though, please do some
looking on your own. The titles may be doifferent, but there are journals
covering many of these fields. At the same time, some of these ideas might
not sustain a full journal. A topic such as "the history of sketching" is
both covered by a dozen journals now published in different fields while
remaining a bit narrow and specialized for any single publication.
Now that I have Oguzhan's response, I'll add a few comments when I get
home from my journey to Kirkenes, a city on the Barents sea at the
northmost border between Norway and Russia
There is also some confusion about what a citations index is, how they are
compiled, and what they do. I'll post a few comments on this as well. A
citations index is not a list of approved journals. It is a researchg tool
that allows bibliometric research on citations between and among journals
in the index data base. This is a specific research tool, and creating
them requires immense staff resources and heavy computer power. Even a
simple index is hard to maintain -- something that the short-lived and
long-defunct Allison indesx for art and design periodicals made clear.
Yours,
Ken
