Hi Jessica,
I had what sounds like a similar deposit last year -
loads of sheep metapodials and not much else. No
obvious wear or butchery, and a serious dearth of
phalanges.
Given the lack of phalanges, unlikely to be tawing,
and lack of wear, unlikely to be knucklebone floor
(although I suppose the deposit could have been used
for flower bed edging or something which wouldn't
leave any wear marks!)
The only other comparitive site that I managed to find
was the Bedern in York (it's in one of the AY's -
might be AY15/5, but not sure) I think O'Connor
interpreted it as a possible dump of raw material, but
I don't have the report with me, so not a hundred
percent certain.
