Dear colleague,
If you are involved in the teaching of social policy or support staff who
teach and research in applying and analysing social policy the following
event may be of interest to you.
Apologies for any cross posting
Many thanks
Rebecca
'Using Social Policy Research in Teaching' -- 29 March 2007 at Aston
Business School Conference Centre in Birmingham.
In addition to the event poster and booking form, abstract outlines for
the three keynotes for the event can now be viewed at:
www.swap.ac.uk/events/workshop.asp?ref=1387.
In summary, Professors Pete Alcock, Saul Becker and Alan Jenkins will set
the scene with keynotes on the themes of:
* Using social policy research in teaching
* Perspectives on using quality social policy in research
* Lessons from other disciplines in approaches to the research-
teaching nexus - HEA's work programme
Following these keynotes there will be discussion sessions for delegates
to build on and respond to themes and issues raised. Delegates are then
invited to a panel chaired by David Gladstone. Keynote speakers will be
joined by Professor Jane Millar and Professor Nick Ellison. All panel
members will attend discussion sessions and feed back issues raised to
this final plenary.
The cost of the event is £50 per person with a reduced rate of £30 for
students/service user reps.
We have had a healthy response to date and hope that you will be able to
join us to reflect on and discuss ways of 'using social policy research in
teaching' in a friendly and stimulating forum
With thanks,
Rebecca Johnson
