Hi all,
I have written a book chapter in which I develop a life cycle model of the
creative process with reference to modern classical musical composers, and
then show (via testimonial material) that the life cycle model applies to
the creative activity of professional economists.
One of the things I like in the chapter is that it shows that while
economists put forward the notion of a cold-blooded, calculating rational
economic man, in developing their own theories economists are creative
agents, and the same principles of creativity that apply to creative work in
the arts and sciences apply also to economists.
It was originally written as part of my Ph.D, but was not included in it.
It's quite readable (IMO) and would be accessible by an (intelligent)
general public.
I'm putting out feelers to see if anyone is putting together an edited book
on creativity and design, in which it might sit nicely.
If you are interested (or know someone who might be), then please feel free
to email me.
Kind regards,
Dr. Lauchlan A. K. Mackinnon
