Hello,
I am considering an essay looking at 'Zinedine Zidane a 21st Century
Portrait'. Of particular interest to me technically is the complex sound
design and obviously the editing. Its narrative however I am strongly drawn
to compare with Albert Camus' The Outsider. Initial research after having a
light bulb moment has returned off hand general comparisons. Mostly between
player and author. The subject I wish to discuss is the comparison of the
film specifically as an essay, interpreted in reference to The Outsider as a
written narrative. The work of filmmaker and author compared, the player
Zinedine being no less a character than Meursault in the text.
French/Algerian themes will no doubt ensue, of which I'm probably ignorant
as yet. The book will need a re visit after nearly a decade. And Camus is
not renowned for simple deconstruction so maybe it is a bad idea for a quick
10,000 word dissertation.
Any thoughts would be welcome. I don't want to centre the writing completely
about the literature comparison or digital artwork pretensions, the film
demands thought on many other facets too.
Hope your well, look forward to reactions..
