there are at least 2 guidelines for assessing preoperative cardiac risks
before noncardiac surgery, which were developed by:
1) The American College of Cardiology/American Heart Association (ACC/AHA)
2) The American College of Physicians (ACP)
apparently, there are some conflicting recommendations between these 2
guidelines, as explained in: Am J Cardiol. 2003 Jun 1;91(11):1299-303.
Guideline chaos: conflicting recommendations for preoperative cardiac
assessment. Gordon AJ, Macpherson DS.
