I once stood outside Mc Donalds demonstrating on behalf of 'that trial'
where two people were taken to court by said firm -it all backfired for big
Mc -a nasty episode yuk cost them around £30million in legal fees against
those who could not afford lawyers

Dawdling over my Fast Food
'As is well known, McDonald's restaurants are deliberately designed
both to attract customers and to discourage them from lingering,
in order to produce what is known in the trade as "maximum throughput."'
- Alison Lurie in the current NYRB
Macca's, we hate
all that fat!
your bright colours
and huge shiny photos
of fatty food!
Your noisy acoustics,
glaring lighting,
cheap tables
and uncomfy seating!
- Thus the chorus
of superior Macca
haters everywhere.
But the Macca's
round our corner
lacks this hectic decor.
We dawdle over our fast food,
reading every newspaper
(except those
in Chinese,
Greek and Italian).
Here's one saying
Prince Charles
in Abu Dhabi
warns against Macca's.
Well meaning, no doubt,
but for us a case
of dubious throughput:
fat-uous in, fat-uous out.
