Same background and I form part of a team providing both primary and emergency care.
Whoever told you this is not living on the same planet or otherwise has being working for the NMC
for to long!!
Perhaps you might like to ask your colleague if Dr's prescribe saline for tins of tuna.
Cheers

Dear All
I am fairly new to OH and my current role is providing first aid cover
to employees on a construction site, which I have been doing and
referring anybody to A&E or their GP as appropriate.
The question I would like to ask is can I legally provide more
treatment as I have eight years experience working in Accident and
Emergency and four of those years as a Emergency Nurse Practitioner. I
have been told that I can not use normal saline to clean wounds because
it has to be prescribed by a doctor.
I feel I am fully proficient at dealing with minor injuries and I am
fully aware of my capabilities.
Kind Regards
Neil Poole
