Dear List,
I have been working on an idea that I am having some trouble backing
up. Better put, I am having some trouble evaluating the state of the
art concerning this question: what others have thought through, or what
paths have already been trodden.
It goes something like this: considering that (usually) our use and
experience of language occurs in the medium of a given mother tongue,
could one consider something like a visual/temporal mother tongue that
film could somehow access?
Meaning, is film (considered speechlessly as images in time) a language
or an idiom?
Authors, experiences, bibliographical suggestions, or plain feedback
are both welcome and appreciated.
Best wishes,
Eduardo Abrantes
