The presentation will focus on the practical application of key
administrative datasets for targeting, monitoring and evaluating area based
interventions to tackle social and economic deprivation. Specific reference
will be made to the evaluation of the government's National Strategy for
Neighbourhood Renewal and its component programmes. The presentation will
include some preliminary results of the evaluation of the New Deal for
Communities Programme including the use of the difference-in-difference
method implemented with propensity score matching to track people moving
out of worklessness and into employment.
