It seems to me that this theme is popular, for various reasons, one of which
is shameless name-dropping, which some contributor mentioned. But I do think
there is an interest in the personality of various poets which can be shown
by a first-hand account of a meeting with them. Like Lowell's meeting with
Eliot, for instance.
I am wondering if we couldn't devise a series of prose accounts of 'meetings
with famous poets' by choosing one poet each (those of us who would like to
contribute) and writing a short narrative about the event. We could publish
them one a week or one a day, on this list, and at the conclusion create a
home for them somewhere on the net. An over-all editor would perhaps be a
wise move, and an initial selection of which poet-to-poet(s) would need to
be made to avoid repetition.
Fantasy ones may be fun, but it would be good to get the realistic ones over
with first ...
What do you think?
