Thank you Alan,
This will be very useful to us. Our group met in Paris last month to
develop a global monitoring and evaluation framework for the UN Decade
in ESD. It has also initiated discussions about how the data collection
and assessment processes might work in practice.
We will be calling upon networks to input into the thinking and
implementation of the various components of this monitoring process. A
longitudinal research project is envisaged to evaluate the impacts of
DESD. I am hoping that members of this EER elist will be interested in
providing input to this component. Details of the proposed methodology
and global monitoring framework will be finalized shortly.
In the meantime, if you I would like to share other reports associated
with ESD indicators:

Colleagues -
Indicators for Education for Sustainable Development: a report on
perspectives, challenges and progress, by Alan Reid, Jutta Nikel and
William Scott, Centre for Research in Education and the Environment,
University of Bath, is now available on the Anglo-German Foundation
website.
The document reports on contemporary perspectives, challenges, and
progress in the development and implementation of indicators for
Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) in 2006. It discusses key
issues in indicator methodology and the application of indicators to
the field of ESD; existing and emerging critiques of indicators in
social policy settings; and a range of ESD indicator projects
underway in Europe.
