David - for the record, you are not alone! As he author of _The
Cognitive Semiotics of Film_ I can confirm that it does investigate the
attempt to bring together continental film semiotics and cognitive
science, mainly by investigating the work of cognitive film
semioticians such as Francesco Casetti, Roger Odin, Michel Colin,
Dominique Chateau etc. (A sample of their work can be found in my
anthology _The Film Spectator_ 1995.)
One defining characteristic of cognitive film semiotics is that
combines semiotics and cognitive science in an effort to model the
mental activities (intuitive knowledge) involved in the making and
understanding of films.
