Dear Everyone,
As you already know, there has been an e-seminar running for several months now on the BERA-
Practitioner-Researcher JISCmail list. The focus has been to determine suitable criteria for judging
the quality of practitioner research. Thanks, Donna, for your superb contribution to discussion.
A major area of interest has been concerned with establishing suitable standards of judgement to
evaluate the use of multi medi in research accounts. It is important to develop ways to help busy
mentors to represent their knowledge in a supportive and scaffolded way - and the KEEP Toolkit
templates at http://www.cfkeep.org are proving to be very helpful, as many of us already know.
Students at Bishops School in Salisbury who are research mentoring one another are producing
some excellent snapshots on 'creativity' as part of a CARA funded award for practitioner research.
During the BERA 2006 Conference SIG meeting I undertook to review one paper presented at the
conference and the one we agreed on was authored by Prof. Tadashi Adasa and Rieko Iwahama.
Using the criteria for evaluating multi media I have completed my review which I have attached.
There is no doubt in my mind that the multi media presentation incorporating the paper and the
PowerPoint slides is 'world class' and I feel enormously privileged to have been able to review it.
Happy New Year!
Sarah
PS I am off for another visit to Japan later this month to continue our collaborative research into
mentoring integrated with practitioner research. I've been invited to participate in kounai-ken
again. This is my account so far http://www.cfkeep.org/html/snapshot.php?id=5396850915064
For info. I attach a paper that has just been accepted for publication by the Japanese Government.
