TRUSTEE DIRECTORS: MLA YORKSHIRE
We are seeking to appoint 11 non-executive Trustee Directors to our new
Board of Management from April 1st 2007. MLA Yorkshire is an independent
charity and company limited by guarantee, part of the MLA Partnership of
regional agencies and MLA Council, our funding body, funded by the
Department for Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS).
As a regional agency, we represent the sector ‘on the ground’, providing
advocacy and advice, promoting its significance as a deliverer of learning,
developing the workforce, delivering national programmes, championing
access and inclusion and supporting partnership working between museums,
libraries and archives.
Museums, libraries and archives are among the most well used cultural
assets in the region, with 163 museums generating ten million visits per
year, over 23,800,000 visits made to public libraries and over 200 sites in
the region holding public archive collections.
We are looking for enthusiastic and passionate Trustees, who will develop
networks and take a leading role in the advocacy of the organisation, as
well as support its good governance. Three of our board places are set
aside for local authority elected members, who should bring their
experience and understanding of communities in the region, but are
appointed as individuals, not representing any authority of group of
authorities directly.
Can you help? We would need you to attend quarterly meetings and to serve
on sub-committees where appropriate. You should bring passion and
enthusiasm, the ability to communicate and network, and to help to ensure
good governance of the charity.
