A full time post-doctoral position funded for one year in the first
instance with possible extension to two years is available immediately for
a highly motivated researcher with a strong background in X-ray techniques
particularly protein crystallography and X-ray scattering. This position at
the MRC Prion Unit is for a collaborative programme being carried out at
the Daresbury Laboratory, Cheshire, where the candidate will be mainly
located.
The successful applicant will join well-established teams in both
laboratories in a multidisciplinary environment and will focus on
structural studies of prion proteins using synchrotron based x-ray
techniques (primarily x-ray crystallography and solution x-ray scattering).
Candidates are expected to have a Ph.D. degree in structural biology or a
related field and a background in at least one of the following areas:
biochemistry, biophysics, and X-ray methods. They should enjoy working as
part of an energetic team.
The post holder works collaboratively with other staff of the Unit and
Daresbury Laboratory, in particular with Drs. Svetlana Antonyuk and Guenter
Grossmann.
