medieval-religion: Scholarly discussions of medieval religion and culture
Having recently toured the scavi 'neath Saint Peter's, I can say that the
guide does present both sides of the argument and does not at all insist or
state as fact that this is indeed the burial site of Peter. The presentation
is "may be." The tour itself is fascinating in its own right whether it's
Peter's burial site or not, as is the tour of the Roman necropolis recently
opened to the public beneath a parking lot or garage at the Vtaican. And
(wow!) the necropolis may be photographed but without flash, a bit absurd as
bright lights illuminate the remains.
