I can attest to the veneration of this saint, having just returned from
Corfu. There's a constant procession around his coffin. People bring their
children to touch the reliquary and we were told over half the boys on Corfu
are named "Spyridon." The only comparable veneration I've seen was at the
shrine of Saint Anthony in Padua, where the crush of pilgrims to touch the
saint's tomb is incredible.
