Hello, everyone.
In Solihull Libraries, like many of our colleagues, we provide our local organisations list online, along with a list of private tutors.
In the current climate there are clearly issues around providing a list of tutors in this way, as regards ensuring that those on the list are bona fide. How are other services approaching the provision of information about private tutors, whether online or from paper files? Are you requiring CRB check or other formal safeguard, or are you using some form of disclaimer?
The same issue can be extended to our lists of local organisations that virtually all library services maintain. What could we and should we feasibly do when listing a local group with staff or volunteers that work with children - ballet, swimming, judo etc? Does everyone out there use a disclaimer? If so, what form of words do you use, and what is the view of your legal service and/or Local Children's safeguarding Board as to its validity?
I shall, of course, summarise for the list.
