medieval-religion: Scholarly discussions of medieval religion and culture
Dear all,
As usual, I turn to the collective wisdom of this group having, as far as I
can tell, exhausted my own ability to ascertain the following reference.
A line from a liturgical office for Louis, which follows a series of
comparisons to Old Testament kings, reads:
“Ut angelus domini cum david immobilis non cedit discrimini vir in fide
stabilis.”
I am flummoxed as to what the biblical reference for this might be. Can
anyone help? It would be, as always, very much appreciated. All the other
examples have a clear scriptural basis, and I doubt this one does not.
In hopes and with thanks,
cecilia
