medieval-religion: Scholarly discussions of medieval religion and culture
Following the recent liturgical questions, where is the best place to find
out about medieval liturgy? (Apart from here, obviously!) Where is the
latest research on medieval liturgy published? (Remember that I don't have
access to a decent research library - but judging from the number of my
books that are ex-library, I'm not convinced that anyone else does either!)
Some of these thoughts are provoked by reading research that is up to 120
years out of date. For example, I have just read that the diocese of Durham
did *not* employ the Use of York - which is implausible for many reasons,
except the locally political.
Where (in the UK) can one find medieval liturgical research presented?
(Please don't say "Leeds" - the Leeds Medieval Congress is just too
expensive for anyone without institutional support.)
Finally, does anyone know what has happened to Richard Pfaff's History of
the Liturgy in Medieval England (Cambridge UP, ISBN 0521808472)?
Amazon.com is still confidently announcing its imminent publication, but
no-one else is!
