medieval-religion: Scholarly discussions of medieval religion and culture
I should clarify the position of the Martin D'Arcy Collection at Loyola
University, Chicago.
The D'Arcy, a collection of medieval, renaissance and baroque art and
decorative arts, is currently closed. It is moving from Loyola's lake shore
campus in north Chicago to the downtown campus, on Michigan Avenue, the
Magnificent Mile. Address: 820 N. Michigan Ave., Chicago, IL 60611
Telephone: +312-915-7606.
It will reopen in October 2007 as the permanent collection of LUMA - the
Loyola University Museum of Art. The D'Arcy will remain focused on its
area, but LUMA has a wider brief to explore religion and spirituality in the
arts.
In the meantime, questions about the collection can be directed to me, as
the Martin D'Arcy Curator, at [log in to unmask] With some notice, it may be
possible to have pieces available for study if anyone is passing through
Chicago.
Yours,
Jonathan Canning
