Associate Professor in German History & Politics

Applications are invited for the above post in the Department of German Studies at the University of Nottingham, which is one of the leading German departments in the UK with top ratings for research (5* in RAE 1996 and 2001) and excellent ratings for teaching.
The successful candidate will conduct high-level research of international significance in any areas of post 18th century German history and politics and demonstrate academic leadership in the Department's research culture. Their teaching portfolio will include undergraduate modules in German history and politics based on their areas of expertise. They will also take an active role in developing the Department's postgraduate provision and in the academic administration of teaching at Departmental and School level.
Candidates should have a PhD and a record of research excellence and international distinction with high quality publications for potential submission in the RAE 2008. They should have experience in teaching German history and politics at university level to native speakers of English and should be able to provide research-led teaching in both English and German in the Department's syllabus.
Salary will be within the range £41,133 - £49,116 per annum, depending on qualifications and experience (salary can progress to £58,631 per annum, subject to performance). This post is available from 1 September 2007 and is open to job share.
