medieval-religion: Scholarly discussions of medieval religion and culture
Anyone interested in the technology of manuscript production --
>skins, inks,
>colours, quills, tools, design, impagination, chemicals, use of minerals,
>precious stones and metals, writing techniques, scriptorium supervision,
>patronage, etc., etc. -- or, for that matter, in the psychology of
>perfectionism, is likely to find extraordinary interest in the accompanying
>book to the St John's Bible project
I don't want a book about the book... I want THE BOOK... or a good facsimile
thereof ;-)
If I may digress further from the MA, I have used a very medieval-looking
computer font to print out various Christmas texts and then asked a local
artist, whose work is Romanesque in flavor, to illuminate them. Once framed,
they make dandy Christmas decorations. The "O antiphons" are especially
good.
