Dear All
I have been asked by our Information Services Librarian to post the
following question
In Dudley our planning section of the local authority have received a
simplified guide to the Mapping Service Agreement with Ordnance Survey. In
this it states that anyone receiving a copy of a map under the Fair Deal
provision should sign a declaration form to say it will only be used for
research etc. However this form is not specific to OS and comes under the
Copyright Act, therefore meaning persons requesting copies of any work
should have to sign this form. Apparently when a planning officer visited
one of our libraries re a map this process was not being followed and a
concern was raised that this may be breaking the copyright law. Are all
library authorities using these forms as a matter of course?
