medieval-religion: Scholarly discussions of medieval religion and culture
I've only just got back in to pick up the answers to my question on this
topic.
Many thanks to all who replied. It looks as if St Lawrence would have been
moved on a couple of days. I don't know if Bishop James Chisholm had any
strong views on either saint, but local custom would certainly have expected
a big show for St Blane. I'll check the Aberdeen Breviary, which (to my
shame) I hadn't thought of-- my excuse being that I rarely venture out of
Glasgow, which is fairly well accounted for.
I'm very grateful for all your suggestions. A good Presbyterian upbringing
can be a handicap at moments like this.
Pat
