My source is:
A.D. Mills, A Dictionary of London Place Names (Oxford: Oxford University
Press, 2001) pp.74-75, where he explicitly says 'street, lane, or row of
houses occupied by paternosters or makers of rosaries.'
Unfortunately, *he* doesn't give a source, but he may well have taken it
from:
E. Ekwall, Street-Names of the City of London (Oxford, 1954)
