medieval-religion: Scholarly discussions of medieval religion and culture
Today's Oxford Dictionary of National Biography's 'Life of the Day' is AG
Rigg's biography of Lawrence of Durham (c.1110-1154), poet and prior of
Durham. Follow the links below to access it and other lives for the week.
If you are quick, you will catch Susan James's biography of Katherine Parr,
Henry VIII's sixth queen - interesting because of the influence Bishop
Cuthbert Tunstall and Thomas More had on her education. Although she
appears to have been on the protestant side of Henry's church of England,
she also seems to have been much influenced by Bishop Fisher's writing (the
author makes no comment on his death, merely calling him 'late bishop of
Chichester!) She was the 'life of the day' six days ago, so is only on offer
today!

Rosemary Hayes
