medieval-religion: Scholarly discussions of medieval religion and culture
Does anyone know of images of the Crucifixion with three, rather than a single, skull
on the rocks below? Or, for that matter, any other scene with three skulls below? I
am grasping at straws, but possible relations might be with the Three Crosses, or
with the Three Magi (whose skulls, at least, were in Cologne Cathedral from the
mid-12th century). Any hints or references to possible leads gratefully accepted.
Many thanks,
Jim Bugslag
