Steve and I had some time to kill while we were waiting for the disc
validations on jupiter, and this topic came up. I have no strong
opinions on the matter. The less I have to do the better. I thought
I'd ask while it was fresh in my mind, although it may be a while before
I'm up to speed with the maintenance of the Nightly Builds and OS
installation to dare implement any OS & compiler upgrades.
Could somebody please relay my question to the STARMAN list and collate
replies or get responses cc'ed to me. I've lost track what the former
Starlink sites are actually running these days. It's hard enough
ascertaining what's running at RAL.
Tru 64 hasn't changed much thanks to HP, so I'm with Peter on that.
The latest version doesn't run on older hardware. rlsaxps, for
example, still has a digital badge.
More important were the predominent Linux flavours, and MacOSX.
As Red Hat EL is derived from Fedora Core, doesn't that imply we
should try a more distinct flavour?
