That's true -- I hadn't thought of that.
It's probably not too much of a problem, however, since the only
components that have any configure dependencies are ccdpack and
startcl. In the case of CCDPACK at least, anyone building it from
source would be committed to building quite a lot of other material
at the same time, enough that building a few possibly duplicate
thirdparty libraries would be lost in the noise.
The same problem exists (and, I realise, has always existed) for non-
configure dependencies on thirdparty components: the various things
that depend on cfitsio, for example, depend on the Starlink
thirdparty build of cfitsio, and not any other cfitsio build the user
may have knocking around.
