Having heard the item on Radio 4's Today Programme I was struck (but not
surprised, since it has't happened plenty of times before) about the absence
of CILIP's voice, when we hear constantly from HQ about all the work being
put into advocacy etc etc. I understand from a friend in senior news
management at the BBC that CILIP was not invited to contribute and that is
not good news: either way it suggests a low profile. There is a mismatch
between this low profile and the impression given in things emanating from
Ridgmount St eg Update.
