Hello all,
I thought I'd update the members with news of Guanxi. We've just
released the latest version, codename "bigyin" (some humour does help
in middleware!).
We're pleased with the progress of the Service Provider, which we
think is unique in SP terms, in that it's distributed, web service
based and language neutral. We're currently working on PHP and XMPP
Guards that will use the services of the SP's distributed SAML Engine.
The SP's SAML Engine can be installed centrally in an institution and
lightweight (Java and PHP so far) Guards can be given to tutors etc
who wish to "shibb" their applications. One Engine can work with
multiple Guards. Scalability is acheived through multiple Engines
with their own Guard communities.
This release also adds full SSL and Identity Masquerading to the SP.
The release can be found on the project site:
http://sourceforge.net/projects/guanxi/
as well as the new Wiki:
http://www.guanxi.uhi.ac.uk
We're also developing a knowledgebase of how to shibb applications,
the issues etc:
http://www.guanxi.uhi.ac.uk/drguanxi
The Wikis are new so we're still migrating from the old one and
adding lots more documentation on how the modules work.
For information on ways to shibb applications, user accounts etc, Dr.
Guanxi's Shibb Clinic will, we hope, become an interesting resource
for those with a thirst for shibb knowledge.
best regards,
Alistair
