medieval-religion: Scholarly discussions of medieval religion and culture
Yesterday 19. May was the feast of:
Peter Celestine (Peter of the Morrone; pope Celestine V; d. 1296). As
there's a serious student of P. on this list, it would be cheeky of me
to offer a notice of this well known saint of the Regno (well known,
that is, to readers of Dante and to many medievalists if not to a much
broader public). But we shouldn't let the day pass without at least
having a look at the church in which he reposes, Santa Maria di
Collemaggio at L'Aquila (AQ) in Abruzzo.
