medieval-religion: Scholarly discussions of medieval religion and culture
Richard,
It has been claimed that the Empress Theodora in the 6th century harboured
Monophysite monks in the Hormisdas Palace in Constantinople. The presence of
Monophysites there is fairly well attested. It is possible, though, that Theodora's
part in their presence there has been unduly emphasized as part of an intentional
slur campaign.
Cheers,
Jim Bugslag
