All, don't worry about the pets :-) These hotels accommodate families
with family members under treatment in one of the University hospital
facilities. UW has one of the largest, most active research/training
hospitals in the U.S. (2nd only to Johns Hopkins in federal research
funding). So, sometimes that means the family pet has to come along for
the ride--particularly when the patient is a child.

So which hotel are people going for? University Inn looks cheaper, but
I wasn't sure about the abundance of 75lb dogs! :-) We might as well
all try and get in at the same place?

Yes, the special rate was one of the discount hotel services and I'm
sure that only a limited number of rooms are handed out to those
services. The University Inn and Watertown properties are both operated
by the same company (notice the link to each other on their websites)
and both hotels have good reputations.

Folks:
Just a note that I just tried booking at the University Tower and they
had no more rooms available at the special rate. Looks like good old
"bait and switch" to me ... :-(
