medieval-religion: Scholarly discussions of medieval religion and culture
It depends, as always ... I learned in school by our teacher for
ancient Greek the version with the rope.
kamelos (with long e) = camel,
kamilos (with long i) = rope.
In my greek version of Mt 19, 24 is "kamelon", but: you spoke a long
e similar as a long i ...
Therefore not a failure of translation, but possibly one of
dictation. What shall we we do? Lectio difficilior or simplicior?
