Hi Ron (& Norman),
looking through your logs I see that you don't have:
$STARCONF_DEFAULT_PREFIX/buildsupport/bin
on your PATH, so that explains your current difficulty (wrong autoconf
tools), however, I'm no wiser why the CCDPACK configure failed. I thought
it might be related to your use of "--disable-shared" during configure
(because this option isn't used during "make configure-deps", so Tcl and
friends are actually built shared), but that works for me, so I'm stumped.

I guess that Ron's PATH was correct when he bootstrapped the tree, so that
should be OK, and not having it right later doesn't matter, unless one of
the rules decides Makefile.am or configure.ac are more recent and tries to
run autoconf/automake. Clearly that's what happened in EXTRACTOR (for some
reason).
