Whilst I am not fully knowledgeable on archaeological matters - or indeed
the workings of the Lottery people these days - I read your Post with interest.
I understand your sentiments and believe you are right in what you say, but
there must always be a certain level of academic involvement of course, if
only to officially assess/evaluate standards of good practice and for
consultancy purposes.
I believe the Cwm Einon Mine 'work' (Mid-Wales), fit's into what you
identify as wrong practice, and the result I have been told is somewhat
catastrophic, so this might fit the category of how not to do things and what can go
wrong with the current system?
